This Privacy Policy explains how Alex Glover ("Break Book", "we", "us") handles information in connection with the Break Book mobile application (the "App") and this website. We built Break Book to be privacy-respecting: it is a one-time purchase, contains no advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
1. Overview
Break Book is a golf putting tool. Most of what the App stores — your course maps, the breaks you record, your putting statistics and equipment — lives on your device. We only collect what is needed to make the App work, to process your purchase, and to fix problems.
2. Data we collect
Information you create in the App
- Course & green data — the courses you map, green outlines, hole order and positioned satellite images.
- Putt records — distance, break direction, slope, strike, line, result and any notes you add.
- Equipment — putters you add and their specifications.
Information collected automatically
- Precise location — only while you are actively using the App to map a course or read a green (see Section 3).
- Diagnostics — if you opt in through your device settings, Apple may share aggregated crash and performance data with us. This does not identify you.
Information you provide to us directly
- Support correspondence — if you email our support address, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include.
We do not require you to create an account or provide your name to use the core App.
3. Location data
Break Book uses your device's GPS to map greens, place you on the course, and estimate putt distances. We request "While Using the App" location access. Location is processed on your device to power these features; we do not continuously track you in the background, and we do not build advertising or location profiles. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings — some mapping features will be limited if you do.
4. How we use data
- To provide core features: mapping courses, drawing breaks, calculating distances and statistics.
- To process and restore your one-time purchase through the relevant app store.
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability and performance.
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
5. Storage & sync
Your content is stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud or your platform's backup, your data may also be stored in your own cloud account under that provider's terms and is not accessible to us.
6. Sharing & third parties
We share information only as needed to run the App:
- Apple — to process App Store purchases and (if enabled) deliver diagnostics.
- Map & satellite imagery providers — to display maps; requests are subject to the provider's own privacy policy. [MAP PROVIDER]
- Legal — where required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
7. Purchases
Break Book is sold as a one-time purchase through the Apple App Store. Payment is handled entirely by the app store — we never receive or store your payment card details. Refunds are handled under the relevant store's policies.
8. Retention & deletion
Data you create stays on your device until you delete it or remove the App. To delete in-App data, remove the relevant course, putt or putter, or delete and reinstall the App. Support emails are retained only as long as needed to resolve your request. To request deletion of any data we hold about you, contact us (Section 13).
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Because most data is stored on your device, you can exercise many of these directly in the App. For anything we hold, contact us and we will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (for example, GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA). We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
10. Children
Break Book is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keeping your device locked and your operating system up to date helps protect your data.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
