Getting started
1. Map a course
Open Courses → find your club. Confirm the detected greens — deselect any practice or temporary greens that were picked up — then set the hole order, position the satellite image for each green and tap Save Course.
2. Log a putt
On a green, tap Log a putt. Distance is estimated from GPS. Set break, slope and result, then add miss detail if you missed. Your read is drawn on the green.
3. Review stats
The Stats tab shows strokes gained vs. Tour, make % by distance and your miss breakdown. My Putter tracks performance per putter.
Frequently asked questions
A green is missing, or extra greens were detected expand_more
Make sure location is enabled and you have a data connection while mapping. On the Select Greens screen you can tap the map to add a green that wasn't detected, and on Order Holes you can tap Add Hole to place one manually.
Heads-up: detection often picks up practice putting greens and temporary (winter) greens as well as your real holes. Tap a green flag on the Select Greens screen to deselect any that aren't part of the course you're mapping before continuing — this keeps your hole order and stats accurate.
My GPS distance looks off expand_more
GPS accuracy improves outdoors with a clear sky view. Give the phone a few seconds to settle after reaching the green, and set location permission to While Using the App with Precise Location turned on (Settings → Break Book → Location).
You can also correct it by hand: the distance is measured between your ball and hole positions, and both can be dragged to the right spots on the green to fine-tune the reading.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device? expand_more
Sign in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you used to buy Break Book, then reinstall the app — your one-time purchase restores automatically. If you don't see it, use Restore Purchases in the app settings, or email us.
Is there a subscription? expand_more
No. Break Book is a single one-time payment with no subscriptions and no ads.
How do I back up or move my data? expand_more
Your courses and putt history are stored on your device. Keeping your device’s iCloud backup enabled will include Break Book's data so it carries over when you set up a new phone.
How do I delete my data? expand_more
Delete individual courses, putts or putters inside the app, or remove the app to clear everything stored locally. To request deletion of anything we hold, email us — see our Privacy Policy.
Which devices are supported? expand_more
Break Book is built for iPhone with GPS and requires iOS 17 or later. There is no Android version.
